Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram disclosed his bowling strategy if he were to bowl against the modern-era star Babar Azam. Wasim Akram namedropped legendary batters, Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, underscoring the difficulty of bowling to Babar Azam.
Babar Azam is currently representing Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024. The Peshawar-based franchise holds third place in the six-team points table. The team has secured three victories out of six games, with one match ending in no result.
Peshawar kicked off the tournament with consecutive losses against the Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings. However, they made a remarkable comeback, winning three in a row. However, their recent game against the Lahore Qalandars was abandoned due to rain.
Babar Azam Is A Very Good Player – Wasim Akram
On A Sports’ show ‘The Pavilion’, Wasim Akram praised Babar Azam‘s batting prowess, likening him to Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara in terms of skill and technique. Akram said that he would start with attacking lines against the former Pakistan skipper.
“Babar is a very good player. He is among the three best batters in the world right now and he plays proper cricketing shots. Had he been a pinch hitter, then the bowler would know that he has a chance to get him out.
But Babar…for players like Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar, it was difficult to bowl to them because they play good shots against good deliveries and hence gives you lesser opportunities to dismiss them.
These are technically good batters. But yes, bowl attacking lines in the first few overs just to check whether they are set on that particular track,” Akram said.
Akram’s statement not only showcased his strategic approach but also highlighted the widespread admiration for Babar Azam among both current players and cricket legends. Babar Azam is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of cricket in Pakistan.
