A heartwarming moment between Colin Munro and a ball boy took place on Monday (March 4) when Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi were playing against each other in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024 (PSL 2024).
The ball boy went for a catch when the batter hit a six but failed to grab the ball. Colin Munro was then seen giving the youngster some advice. The New Zealand star was seen putting his hands on his head to express his disappointment and also put his arm around the ball boy to console him.
Later in the game, the young boy took a stunning catch and it led to brilliant scenes. In the 19th over of Zalmi’s innings, Arif Yaqoob hit a Rumman Raees delivery towards backward square leg for a six. Colin Munro went for the catch but could not get near the ball. Just near the boundary ropes, the ball boy took a brilliant catch while sliding and Colin Munro had to jump over him as the momentum took him over the boundary ropes.
And although his team conceded a six, Colin Munro celebrated the catch by the ball boy in a brilliant fashion. He gave the ball boy a warm hug for his brilliant effort.

Talking about the game, Islamabad United ended Peshawar Zalmi’s three-match winning run by thrashing them by 29 runs. Asked to bat first, Islamabad posted a competitive total of 196/4 in the allotted 20 overs. While openers Alex Hales (0) and Colin Munro (15) failed to get going, captain Shadab Khan led the charge with the bat by scoring 80 off 51 balls.
The likes of Agha Salman (37), Jordan Cox (26), and Azam Khan (29) also played crucial knocks. In reply, the Zalmi finished their innings on 167/9. They lost their top three batsmen for just three runs and could not recover from those early setbacks. At one stage, they were reeling at 18 for 5. Aamer Jamal played a fine knock of 87 runs but it was not enough for Zalmi to win the game.
“It is a par score and you need a good start but unfortunately we lost 4 wickets in the powerplay but the way Aamer Jamal played, you never know, those sort of innings are rare. [on his run-out] It was a wrong call, it was too early, miscalculation happens sometimes. Part of the game,” Zalmi captain Babar Azam was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
“I back my decision to bowl first. Here second innings is always chaseable and whatever cricket we have played here, it is good to chase. And after 6 overs, it is easy to play spinners. We have a lot of positives even in bowling, there were short spells which were good. We executed things which we did not do in the last game. It’s so cold tonight,” he added.
