Sourav Ganguly is a former India captain, who led the team in Tests and ODIs. The former cricketer made his debut for Team India in 1992 and brought down the curtains on his illustrious international career in 2008. He retired from cricket as one of India's most decorated batters and captains.

In his long career, Ganguly represented India in 113 Tests and scored 7212 runs with the help of 16 centuries and 35 half-centuries. He also picked up 32 wickets in the longest format of the game. In ODIs, Ganguly played 311 games and scored 11363 runs including 22 centuries and 72 half-centuries. With the ball, he picked up 100 wickets in the 50-over format.

As a captain, Ganguly led India to the title in the 2002 Champions Trophy and the finals of the 2000 Champions Trophy, 2003 ODI World Cup, and 2004 Asia Cup. Under his captaincy, India won the NatWest series in England, drew a Test series in Australia, and also won a Test series in Pakistan.

In domestic cricket, Ganguly played for Bengal while in the Indian Premier League, he represented Kolkata Knight Riders and now-defunct Pune Warriors. After ending his playing career in 2012, Ganguly entered the world of administration. He first served as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal before being appointed the president of BCCI in 2019.

Sourav Ganguly's wife's name is Dona Ganguly. Dona was born to Sanjeev Roy (father) and Swapna Roy (mother). Just like Ganguly's family, Dona's family was a business family as well. Dona did her schooling at Loreto Convent School and attended the Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College. She has an honors in mathematics.

Dona is a renowned Odissi dancer. She started learning dance when she was only 3 years old.  Later she moved to Odissi under the supervision of Guru Giridhari Nayek. She then further honed her skills as an Odissi dancer under the guidance of Kelucharan Mohapatra.

Dona has performed at several major festivals around the world. She also runs a dance school named 'Diksha Manjari'. More than 1500 students can be trained at the dance school. The school also trains students in swimming, karate, drawing, and yoga.

Sourav Ganguly and Dona Ganguly's love story is nothing less than a typical Bollywood plot. While both knew each other from childhood, not all was well between their families. According to reports, their families were sworn enemies and did not want them to get married.

However, love overcame all the hurdles as Ganguly and Dona eloped. Later, both the family accepted the wedding. Ganguly had planned to do the wedding at the registrar's office after the tour of England in 1996-97. However, he dropped that idea because the office had lots of people in the queue.

Ganguly and Dona then took their wedding vows at one of their friend's places in August 1996. They kept the wedding a secret before their parents came to know about it and were very disappointed. The families had no other option but to accept the wedding for the sake of their children's happiness.

Later, they had a formal wedding ceremony which was attended by friends and families. Dona and Sourav Ganguly's wedding date is 21st February 1997. In 2001, they became parents for the first time when they welcomed their daughter, Sana.
