On Tuesday, September 6, Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced strong white-ball squads for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against the India National Cricket Team.

The South Africa tour of India 2022 consists of a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series. The T20I games will be played on September 28, October 2 and October 4 in Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati and Indore. The ODI games are scheduled to be played in Ranchi, Lucknow and Delhi on October 6, October 9 and October 11.

Meanwhile, the Proteas white-ball skipper Temba Bavuma has finally recovered from a left elbow injury, which he suffered during the five-match T20I series against Team India in June and he will be leading the side on the India tour and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

Star batter Rassie van der Dussen will miss out on the India tour and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 due to a finger injury, which he sustained during the second Test against England in Manchester. The 33-year-old will undergo surgery and will be out of action for at least six weeks. His absence is a major blow to the side as he is one of the most important members of the Proteas setup.

Also, the South Africa National Cricket Team players who have been picked for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, including stand-by players, will be travelling to India for the T20I series ahead of the marquee tournament. The South African squad will depart for India on September 23.

South Africa’s Director of Cricket Enoch Nkwe congratulated the players who have made it to the ICC Men’s T20 World 2022 squad. He added that the important tour of India ahead of the T20 World Cup will provide the Proteas players some valuable game time.

“I would like to congratulate all the players who have made the final cut for the World Cup; every single one of them deserve their place on the plane to Australia. The squad covers all bases and provides us with multiple options in every area whether it batting or bowling. I am confident this group will make South Africans proud when they begin their campaign next month.

“Before that we have an important tour to India beginning in the coming weeks and this will provide some valuable game time for Head Coach Mark Boucher and his team to finalise their preparations for the tournament.”
