Indian pacer Harshal Patel believes the large dimensions of the Rajkot ground will allow Indian spinners to bowl more openly.

After losing the first 2 games, India roared back into the series by defeating the Proteas by 48 runs in their third meeting. Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel, the spinners, were incredible in the victory. They combined for 48 runs and four important wickets in eight overs.

Harshal Patel discussed why, despite the pitch being flat, the larger boundaries would assist the spinners to control the game ahead of the fourth T20I. He stated, ”

“We have also world-class spinners in the squad who can spin well on any pitch, but they come into play a little more when the pitches are a little slower and the ground dimensions are a little greater.”

 Harshal Patel on Visakhapatnam pitch:

In the last game at Visakhapatnam, Harshal Patel had outstanding statistics of 4/25. When the two sides met in Delhi, the 31-year-old was dragged all over the field, but he showed an amazing spirit to create a successful recovery.

He noted that while the surface in Delhi was a belter, the prior game’s pitch was a touch slower, allowing him to use his variations to their maximum potential. According to Patel,

“The Visakhapatnam pitch was sluggish, while not having any varied bounce or lateral movement. As a result, we were able to bowl longer lengths and slower balls into the pitch. Clearing the boundary from those lengths was challenging.”

On the 17th of June, the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot will host the 4th T20I encounter between India and South Africa.
