The India vs South Africa fifth T2oI is all set to be played in Bengaluru on June 19, Sunday. India won the third and the fourth T20Is by big margins to take the series to the decider. India’s fourth T20I win was by 82 runs their biggest victory against South Africa in terms of runs.
South Africa won the first two games and led 2-0 in the series coming into the two games. The way India played in the next two games showed a lot of character about the team. The management backed the same set of players and gave them four matches on the trot and they delivered. India have not lost a bilateral T20I series at home since 2019. The Proteas have not lost a bilateral series in India since 2011. One of the records will be broken on Sunday.

Dinesh Karthik scored his maiden T20I fifty and took India to 169 for 6. He scored 55 and Hardik Pandya 46 as India scored over 70 runs in the final five overs. Ishan Kishan scored a brisk 27 as skipper Rishabh Pant was once again fouled into a bad shot by Maharaj and dismissed.
The Indian bowlers led by Avesh Khan then dismissed the Proteas for a paltry 87 to win the game by 82 runs. He took 4 18 as Yuzvendra Chahal took 2 for 21. Axar and Harshal Patel took one each. Heading into the fifth game in Bengaluru, the management should back the same set of players barring any injury concerns.

The Proteas failed to counter India’s attacking style of play in the third and the fourth game. Their in-form batters who scored runs in the first two games faltered in the next two and in the process handed the initiative to India. Kagiso Rabada missed out due to injury which was a big miss and skipper Temba Bavuma has also picked up an injury.
South Africa have a lot of injury concerns to counter ahead of the decider in Bengaluru. Temba Bavuma might well not recover in time. There is also no update on Rabara’s fitness. If the Proteas manage to win in these adverse conditions, this will be some win for the visitors.
