Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Rashid Latif stated that while Sanju Samson is part of the Indian squad for the two-match T20I series against Ireland, what Dinesh Karthik does is special.

Dinesh Karthik has fought his way back into the Indian team thanks to his outstanding work in the 2022 IPL.

Throughout his long international career, the 37-year-old has recreated himself multiple times, including being booted from the Indian team and then returning.

Karthik began his career as a top-order batsman, earning his sole Test century against Bangladesh as an opener in 2007. Karthik, in his most recent version as a lower-order finisher in the IPL, terrorized opposing bowling attacks. He finished with a strike rate of 183.33, hitting 330 runs in 16 innings.

‘His numbers are such that he will make the playing XI’: Rashid Latif

Former Pakistan wicket-keeper Rashid Latif believes that what Karthik does is special.

“In world cricket, wicketkeepers are doing very well as batsmen.” Sanju Samson is a fantastic top-of-the-order batsman on this team alone. “But Dinesh Karthik is more suitable for the lower,” Rashid Latif stated in a talk on the Youtube channel caught behind.

“His statistics indicate that he will enter the starting XI.” He batted well in the lower order for Bengaluru in the IPL and he had a high strike rate. In T20 cricket, there are hardly any wicketkeepers who can bat in the lower order and play successfully. “For the way, he played in the IPL, Dinesh Karthik is the man I will choose in the playing XI,” Latif remarked.

On the 17th of June, the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot will host the 4th T20I encounter between India and South Africa.
