IND vs SA: Proteas Have Had Multiple Match-Winners, India Haven't Had Anyone Playing A Complete Knock - Salman Butt
Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt stated that the South African team was underestimated by India and they have had to pay in the first couple of matches of the 5-match T20I series.
The Proteas registered a 4-wicket victory in the second T20I on Sunday to take a healthy 2-0 lead in the series. Quinton de Kock’s replacement, Heinrich Klaasen played a 46-ball 81 which helped his side chase down 149 quite comfortably.
“India perhaps took South Africa lightly. They chose a second-string squad, but South Africa have stunned India. While the Proteas have had multiple match-winners, India haven’t had anyone playing a complete knock.”
“Ishan Kishan batted well in the first game, but there was no support performance. They scored 200 but there were small contributions from the others,” Butt said on his YouTube channel.
“India have Umran Malik but they are not playing him” – Salman Butt
Umran Malik received a well-deserved call-up to the national team and he may well get a chance to bring some variety to the pace attack.
“India’s bowling has been lacking in pace. Bhuvneshwar Kumar did well in the 2nd T20I to claim four wickets and showed that experience matters. India have Umran Malik but they are not playing him.”
“They are giving a chance to other youngsters, so I think he should have also got a chance. Pace is something that could have made a difference,” he added.
The 3rd T20I will be played on Tuesday in Vishakapatnam. The Indian team is yet to defeat South Africa in any format in the calendar year 2022.
