IND vs SA: Ruturaj Gaikwad Can Evolve Into An All Format Player: Sanjay Manjrekar
When the two teams meet for the fourth time in the five-match T20I series on Friday in Rajkot, India will be looking to even the series. After falling behind 2-0 in the series, India came together in the third T20I, posting 179/5 before bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel raced through the Proteas batting order, dismissing them for 131 runs.
The 97-run opening combination between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan was a major component of their batting effort in the third T20I. Gaikwad had scored just over 65 runs in his previous five T20Is, and he ended up being the aggressor in the partnership, hitting 57 runs off 35 balls.
I hope Ruturaj Gaikwad Continues In The Same Form: Sanjay Manjrekar
Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar expressed his desire to see Gaikwad maintain his current form, claiming that the 25-year-old has the potential to develop into an all-rounder.
“I hope Ruturaj carries this form because I think there is class there. He has the promise to be an all-format player, which is always nice to be rather than just be one-dimensional,” Manjrekar said in a video posted on his Twitter handle.
Gaikwad is best recognised for his outstanding performance for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL’s 2021 season when he became the first uncapped player to earn the Orange Cap as the team won its fourth title. He has only played six T20Is in his international career, but in 21 first-class matches, he has scored 1349 runs at an average of 38.54.
Gaikwad would hope to continue his good run in the ongoing series as he has been struggling for runs for some time. He was not in the best of nicks in the IPL as well.
