IND vs SA: Suryakumar Yadav Breaks National Record As He Scores Most Runs By An Indian Batter In T20Is In A Calendar Year
Published - 29 Sep 2022, 04:19 PM | Updated - 23 Aug 2024, 12:13 AM
Suryakumar Yadav maintained his outstanding performance, not seeming to be bothered by the opponent, the environment, or the bowling assaults at the time.
Surya was in top form again on Wednesday, this time against South Africa on a surface that nearly played like a landmine for the batsmen, but it really doesn’t matter for him given the form he is in after playing a match-winning 69 off 36 against Australia in the series finale a few days earlier.
Suryakumar Yadav Continues To Dominate
After India had lost Virat Kohli, their second wicket, Surya entered the batting order. Even though India was just chasing 107, being 17/2 is a difficult scenario, especially on a wicket that was acting strangely. He tonks Anrich Nortje for a six on the second ball and repeats the feat on the next ball.
Simply said, Surya is created differently. At the other end, KL Rahul, who was putting in the grueling job of grinding it out and finally made a well-compiled fifty, seemed ordinary in comparison to him.
Surya needed just 8 runs on Wednesday to break the record, despite his 50* off 33 total. Surya currently leads all Indian batters in T20I runs scored in a calendar year, surpassing Shikhar Dhawan.
