Suryakumar is short of 24 runs away to achieve the feat of 1,000 runs and equaling Mohammad Rizwan’s 1,000 T20I runs in 31 innings. He also has a chance to become the 9th Indian batter to score 1,000 runs.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli who achieved the feat in 27 matches is the fastest Indian batter to reach 1,000 runs in T20I cricket. If Suryakumar Yadav scores another 24 runs then he would become the 9th Indian batter to feature in the elite list. The list features names of great cricketers like Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, and Shikhar Dhawan.

Suryakumar Yadav would be aware that he can’t take a backseat as he needs to continue his aggressive brand of cricket. Due to his aggressive stroke-play, the opposition team’s confidence gets badly shaken. India would be looking to seal the T20I Series in the 2nd T20I match as giving a chance to South Africa could prove to be risky.
