IND vs SA: Temba Bavuma Can Be In Form Of His Life Going To The T20 World Cup – Rilee Rossouw Backs SA Captain Amid Poor Form

The 32-year-old South Africa National Cricket Team batter Rilee Rossouw has backed Proteas white-ball captain Temba Bavuma amid his poor run of form with the bat in T20 Internationals.

Bavuma has faced heavy criticism for his poor performances with the bat in T20Is for an extended period of time. In the recently concluded three-match T20I series against India, he registered scores of 0, 0 and 3. Several cricket pundits have questioned Bavuma’s place in the T20I set-up as he has a strike rate of 116.49 in 27 innings.

Speaking after a 49-run win over Team India in the third T20I game of the series, Rilee Rossouw, who smashed a marvellous century in the dead rubber T20I in Indore, talked about Bavuma’s struggle for runs with the bat.

“No, I don’t think it affects the team at all. Like we spoke about it today, if someone’s going to have a good day, they can carry that weight of someone that’s not in great form and it literally you saw it tonight,” Rilee Rossouw said in the post-match presser.

Rossouw also backed Bavuma to find his mojo back ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and said that every cricketer at some point in time goes through a lean patch.

“It takes one knock and Temba (Bavuma) can be in the form of his life going to the World Cup. So it’s, it’s yes it’s something that we just need to be there as a team for him because every professional goes through this and it’s about backing him and we do…his ability, his captaincy we really really back him,” Rossouw added.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 is scheduled to be played from October 16 to November 13 in Australia.
