India face South Africa in the second T20I in Guwahati on Sunday, October 2. The hosts won the first T20I by 8 wickets and head into the second game as the more confident of the two teams. Both India and South Africa are placed in the same group in the T20 World Cup and thus this series is important for both teams.
Team India have dealt a huge blow ahead of the T20 World Cup with Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the tournament with a stress fracture. Arshdeep Singh replaced the Indian speedster who played the final two T20Is against Australia.
Heading into the second T20I, India would ideally like to go with the same side. The bowling and the batting group performed as a unit. R Ashwin in his comeback game bowled a spell of just 8 runs in his four overs. Arshdeep and Deepak Chahar picked early wickets and Harsshal Patel bowled well at the death. Ideally, no change is required in the Indian XI in the second T20I.
India vs South Africa: India???s Predicted Playing XI Against South Africa, South Africa Tour Of India 2022, 2nd T20I
Rohit Sharma (C)
Rohit bagged a rare second-ball duck in the first T20I. He will open the batting in the second T20I and look to get runs in the remaining two games.
KL Rahul
Rahul scored a defining 51 in the first T20I to help his side win the game. The unbeaten knock will give him great confidence heading into the second T20I.
Virat Kohli
Kohli scored three off 9 balls and was ou to Anrich Nortje’s delivery that bounced more than he expected. He has been in good touch recently and will love to score in the remaining games.
Suryakumar Yadav
SKY scored 50 off 33 balls and looked like the only batter who had come to terms with the pitch in Thiruvananthapuram. He has scored the most runs for India this year in T20Is.
Rishabh Pant (WK)
Pant and DK played together in the match. The southpaw did not get his opportunity with the bat though. He would like to make the most of his opportunity in the remaining two games.
Dinesh Karthik
Karthik finished the game off against Australia and did not get his opportunity with the bat in the first T20I. He will be a part of the playing XI.
Axar Patel
The left-arm spinner bowled a spell of 16 in his four overs and bagged a wicket. He is India’s most successful bowler since the Australia series.
R Ashwin
Ashwin gave just 8 runs in his four overs in the first T20I. He should be given another game in the series.
Deepak Chahar
Chahar picked up two wickets with the new ball and got the ball to swing prodigiously as well. He will be a handful in the second T20I as well.
Harshal Patel
Harshal also picked up two wickets and was clever with his change-ups. He should get another game in the series. He has made a good comeback after being expensive in the Australia series.
Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep was the best Indian bowler in the first T20I and completes the likely lineup for the second T20I. With India all set to miss Bumrah in the T20 World Cup, he becomes a key bowler from here on and needs to stay fit.
