Miller was dismissed by spinner Washington Sundar on the 5th ball of the 19th over. Sundar pitched the ball on full length from round the wicket and the Proteas batter went back to try and block straight, but the ball went past the inside edge and crashed into the off-stump.

The on-field umpires referred the dismissal to the third umpire to check whether the bails were dislodged by the ball and the third umpire declared it as out.

Notably, Temba Bavuma and Keshav Maharaj were both out with sickness, which led to Miller getting the opportunity to lead the side. Also, South Africa became the first team in history to field three different captains in a three-match ODI series.

Earlier, India National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. They made no changes to the playing XI and retained the winning combination from the second ODI.

On the other hand, South Africa National Cricket Team made three changes as Marco Jansen, Andile Phehlukwayo and Lungi Ngidi replaced Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada.
