IND vs SL: Gautam Gambhir Feels Everyone is Too Critical of Virat Kohli At Times

Cricket commentator Gautam Gambhir feels that everyone is too critical of Virat Kohli at times. Gambhir also said that even if Kohli plays one bad shot, people say he lapses concentration. His words arrived after Kohli got out for 45 runs in India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test in Mohali.

Playing his 100th Test, Kohli got a good start to his batting while playing at the no.4 spot. Kohli also managed to reach the milestone of 8000 Test runs. However, just 5 runs short of his half-century, he got out on delivery by Lasith Embuldeniya. He missed the ball that went on to hit the stumps.

At Times We Are Too Critical of Virat Kohli: Gautam Gambhir

While speaking about Virat Kohli’s dismissal during a discussion on Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir said that sometimes we are too critical of Virat Kohli.

“At times we are too critical of Virat Kohli because even if he plays one bad shot, we say lapse in concentration. If you talk about the start, every player is nervous, not only Virat; the greatest players in the world are nervous, especially when you are playing your 100th Test,” Gambhir said.

Gautam Gambhir also said that Virat Kohli was in full control of his batting in India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test. He just misjudged the length of the ball on which he got out.

“Here there was a misjudgment of length. The same deliveries he was playing on the front foot before this, and nothing was happening. He played back, the ball spun a little, and he got beaten, but before that, the sort of batting he did, he was in absolute control,” the former India opener further said.

Kohli scored 45 runs off 76 balls. He also hit 5 boundaries during his knock. Meanwhile, India reached a mammoth total in the 1st Test against Sri Lanka. Till the lunch, India reached 468-7 on the scoreboard. Ravindra Jadeja slammed a marvellous century during the 1st session of day 2 of India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test.

On day 1, Rishabh Pant scored 96 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin (61) and Hanuma Vihari (58) also hit half-centuries in the match. So far, Suranga Lakmal and Lasith Embuldeniya have picked 2 wickets each in the match. Vishwa Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, and Dhananjaya de Silva account for 1 wicket each.
