Former Indian player Parthiv Patel feels that India needs to work on no balls and it is hurting them in matches. Parthiv Patel was reacting to a stat that India has bowled 198 no-balls since the beginning of 2018, the highest by any other team in that period.
During the 1st innings of India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test, Indian bowlers bowled 8 no-balls. While Ravindra Jadeja bowled 3 no-balls, Mohammed Shami and Jayant Yadav bowled 2 no-balls each. Jasprit Bumrah bowled 1 no-ball. In contrast, Sri Lankan bowlers bowled 12 no-balls in the 1st innings.

No-Balls Definitely Hurting Indian Team: Parthiv Patel
While speaking to Cricbuzz about India’s no-ball dilemma, former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel said that no-balls are definitely hurting them.
“It is definitely hurting them and it will keep hurting them. You will see that in crucial games if you get a wicket and it’s a no-ball, then that can change the game,” Parthiv Patel said.

India has bowled 198 no-balls since the start of 2018, the most than any other team. Speaking about the stat, Patel said that India will definitely have to work on this, and bowling coach Paras Mhambre’s task will be to stop this.
“It’s quite a staggering stat. And we saw that they showed Paras Mhambrey when India bowled that no-ball but these are the same bowlers who have been playing under the previous bowling coach.
“I think they will have to work on this in the nets. 198 no-balls is a huge number.
“Paras Mhambre is the new bowling coach and this is his second or third series. But this will be one of his tasks to try and stop this. India will definitely have to work on this,” Parthiv Patel further said.
In the 1st innings, Jasprit Bumrah castled Pathum Nissanka’s stumps. However, the delivery was a no-ball and Nissanka managed to save his wicket. The event disappointed Indian players along with coach Rahul Dravid, whose disappointment was clearly visible with his gestures on camera.

Meanwhile, India has reached a dominant position in India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test. Posting 574-8 in the 1st innings, India bowled out Sri Lanka for 174 runs. Sri Lanka faced a follow-on in the match. In the 2nd innings, Sri Lanka reached 120-4 till tea break on Day 3.
