According to a report by Deccan Herald, Gaurav Vikas Parvar, 22, was taken to HOSMAT hospital on Magrath Road with a nasal bone fracture and a cut injury after being hit by the ball. He was treated for both injuries and was discharged very soon after that.

Dr Ajit Benedict Rayan, Medical Director and Vice-President of HOSMAT, who was also present at the stadium during the time of the injury, said they dressed the fan’s wound first and immediately sent him to the hospital which is the official partner of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).

“I was watching the match behind the pavilion and saw a young man in the deep stand being hit by the ball. He was brought to the medical room in the stadium by KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) volunteers,” Dr Ajith was quoted as saying by Deccan Herald.

“We dressed the wound with a compression bandage and sent him to the hospital in an ambulance. The X-ray showed an hairline fracture of the nasal bone that didn’t need surgery. He needed stitches though. The suture will be removed in a week,” he added.

The spectator was discharged and doing well

The injured spectator’s brother confirmed that Gaurav is doing well. “He is doing fine. He was discharged from the hospital and is coming to the stadium to watch the match now. The volunteers helped us,” Gaurav’s brother Rajesh said as reported by Deccan Herald.

India were bowled out at 252 after Shreyas Iyer’s 92 pushed them to a sizeable total on the first day of the Pink-Ball Day-Night affair. Sri Lanka were reduced to 86/6 with Niroshan Dickwella (13) and Lasith Embuldeniya (0) batting for the visitors.
