IND vs SL: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Announces Squad For The Upcoming Three-match T20I Series vs India

On Monday, February 21, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced the squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International against India National Cricket Team, which will be part of the Sri Lanka tour of India 2022.

The Sri Lanka tour of India 2022 consists of a three-match T20 International series and a two-match Test series.

The first match of the T20I series will be played on February 24 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow while the second and third T20 International will be played on February 26 and 27 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

The first Test match of the series will be played from March 4 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh and the second Test will be played from March 12 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced India’s squads for a three-match T20 International and two-match Test series against Sri Lanka on Saturday, February 19.

Avishka Fernando, Nuwan Thushara And Ramesh Mendis Ruled Out Of The T20I Series vs India

In an official statement released by SLC, it was asserted that Avishka Fernando, Nuwan Thushara And Ramesh Mendis, who were part of the Sri Lankan squad for the five-match T20I series against the Australia National Cricket Team, have been ruled out of the India tour due to injuries and they will return to Sri Lanka.

“Sri Lanka Cricket’s Selection Committee selected the following T20I squad to take part in the upcoming 03 matches T20I series with India. The Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa approved the below-given squad,” SLC said in an official media release.

“In the meantime, the below-mentioned players who were in the T20I squad which toured Australia will return to Sri Lanka due to injuries. Avishka Fernando, Nuwan Thushara and Ramesh Mendis,” SLC added.
