Shreyas Iyer top-scored in the T20I series against Sri Lanka batting at number three. He scored 205 runs with three back-to-back fifties. He scored the runs at a strike rate of 174.36 with a total of 20 fours and seven sixes. He paced his innings beautifully and returned unbeaten in all three matches.

Shreyas Iyer was promoted to the number three spot in the batting order and he grabbed it with both hands. He did not let the team feel the absence of Virat Kohli who was rested for the series.

In an exclusive interview with Times Of India, Shreyas Iyer spoke about batting at number three, his good start in international cricket in 2022, the IPL 2022 and much more.

Talking about batting at number three, Iyer said that it’s a position that allows him to express himself. However, he further said that he is open to batting at any position.

“Properly, it is a place the place you possibly can categorical your self one of the best. However that apart, I am actually having fun with myself proper now and be ok with my batting and thorough restoration,” said Iyer.

While speaking at the post-match presentation after the third and final T20I against Sri Lanka, Shreyas Iyer was asked about his preferred batting position in T20Is, to which he responded by saying that he likes batting in the top-order.

“Obviously in this format, top-three is the only place where you can pace your innings pretty well. Otherwise, if you bat down the order you can’t give yourself the time you need to start going from ball one. So yeah, if I had to say the best number to bat for me personally, it’s obviously No. 3,” Iyer added.

Shreyas Iyer was signed by KKR for 12.25 crores in the mega auction. The franchise also announced him as the skipper for the upcoming IPL season. Iyer being in good form is great news for the franchise who kicks off the season by playing the campaign opener against CSK on March 26.
