IND vs SL: We Have A Good Team, The Batting Didn't Capitalize On These Conditions – Dimuth Karunaratne After 238-run Defeat In Bengaluru Test

Dimuth Karunaratne-led Sri Lanka National Cricket Team lost the second match of the two-match series by 238 runs against Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

India won the toss and opted to bat first and they managed to score 252 runs in the first innings, and in response, Sri Lanka batters failed and they were able to score only 109 runs.

Indian batters showed a pure batting masterclass in their second innings and scored 303 runs to give Sri Lanka a huge target of 447 runs. The Sri Lanka batters struggled and got bundled out for 208 and the only batter shined was skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, who scored 107 runs off 174 balls, including 15 fours.

Sri Lanka captain, Dimuth Karunaratne, during the post-match presentation said that he would have been happier if the Sri Lankan team had won the game. He said:

“I would have been more happier if we had won, but it was a tough one, we batted under lights and it was tough.”

Dimuth Karunaratne added that the batting unit of the Sri Lankan team didn’t capitalize on the Indian conditions and the bowling was good but the bowlers bowled too many loose deliveries. He asserted:

“ But I have worked hard on my batting. We have a good team, the batting didn’t capitalize on these conditions, the bowling was good, but we kept bowling loose deliveries every now and then, that’s what we need to work on going further.”

Karunaratne, while talking about retiring pacer Suranga Lakmal said that it was special playing with him and wished him luck for the upcoming county season. He said:

“There have been several youngsters coming up and this was an experience for them. It has been special playing alongside Lakmal and I wish him well for the upcoming county season.”
