Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel, while talking about the captaincy of Rohit Sharma following India’s dominant Test series win over Dimuth Karunaratne-led Sri Lanka, said that the 34-year-old looked in complete control during the games.
Rohit Sharma has been undefeated since being appointed as full-time all-format captain of the Indian team, having whitewashed Sri Lanka, New Zealand and West Indies at home.

During a discussion on Cricbuzz, Parthiv showered praise on the Indian captain and said that he brings a lot of calmness with him and he knows well how to deal with pressure situations, having won 5 IPL championships as skipper. He said:
“Rohit Sharma has not lost a game ever since becoming the full-time captain. The calmness with which he is handling the team shows that he is in complete control.
“While the opposition did not challenge much, he was always in control in terms of bowling changes and DRS. He is an experienced leader who has won five IPL trophies, so he knows how to deal with pressure.”
He slammed an impressive century, that too in the fourth innings – Parthiv Patel on Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne
Parthiv Patel was also highly impressed with the performance of the Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne in the pink-ball Test match against India, where he smashed a sensational century during the run-chase.
“His knock will send a message to the batters of world cricket. Hopefully, there will be better pitches in India. I believe that India needs to play Test cricket on better wickets.
“But even if there are turners like this, it shows that if you get in and apply yourself well, then you can score runs. We value this century more because of the opposition’s bowling attack,” he elaborated.
Former Indian cricketer added that the century of the Sri Lanka captain came in a losing cause but still it is easily ranked among the best centuries.
“He slammed an impressive century, that too in the fourth innings on a wicket where batting was difficult right from Day 1. Watching his knock, I was thinking about the players who have played so well against Indian spinners on Indian oil.
“The likes of Kevin Pietersen and Steve Smith have done that in the past. This hundred might have come in a losing cause, but it is still right up there,” he maintained.
