Rahul Dravid Felicitates Virat Kohli With 100th Test Cap Ahead of India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test, Says "It's Well Deserved And Well-Earned"

India head coach Rahul Dravid felicitated Virat Kohli with the 100th Test cap ahead of India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test in Mohali on Friday. Ahead of the match, a short ceremony was conducted to felicitateVirat Kohli for this milestone. Kohli is playing his 100th Test match in ongoing India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

Virat Kohli has become the 12th Indian batsman to achieve the milestone of playing 100 Test matches. In 99 Tests so far, the right-handed batsman has piled up 7962 runs in 168 innings at an average of 50.39. The 33-year-old has also slammed 27 centuries and 28 half-centuries. Out of his 27 hundreds, 7 are double tons.

It’s Well Deserved, Well-Earned: Rahul Dravid While Felicitating Virat Kohli With 100th Test Cap

While felicitating Kohli with the 100th Test match, India head coach Rahul Dravid congratulated the former Indian skipper for the wonderful achievement. He also said that it is well deserved and well-earned achievement.

“Congratulations to you and your family on this wonderful achievement. It’s well deserved, well earned, and hopefully, it is just the start of many things to come. As we say in the dressing room, double it up,” said Rahul Dravid.

In response, Virat Kohli thanked Dravid and BCCI for their support. He also said that he is proud to play 100 games in the purest format and it’s one thing the next generation can take from him.

“It is a special moment for me. My wife is here and so is my brother. Everyone is very proud. It is indeed a team game and it couldn’t have been possible without you. Thanks to the BCCI as well. In present day cricket, with the amount we play with three formats and an IPL, the one takeaway the next generation can take from me is that I played 100 games in the purest format”, Kohli said.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss in India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test and opted to bat first. India has picked two pacers in the form of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Among spinners, Jayant Yadav has been inducted while Kuldeep Yadav has been rested.

Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have been picked as all-rounders. Mohammed Siraj has also been rested in the match. Shreyas Iyer and Hanuma Vihari are part of the middle-order in the absence of Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Puajra.
