Indian pacer Mohammed Shami’s pace was too hard for Sri Lankan bowler, Lasith Embuleniya, to negotiate, as he was sent back on Day 3 of the first Test between the two sides.

Shami bowled a brilliant spell on the morning of Day 3 but went unrewarded. He was then brought back on after Jasprit Bumrah had started a collapse following which, the PBKS pacer cashed in.

Sri Lanka had slipped from 161/4 to 164/7 when Embuldeniya walked in to partner Pathum Nissanka. Unfortunately, he couldn’t last long at the crease as he received a snorter from Shami, directed right at his neck.

All Embuldeniya could do was fend for himself and he ended up getting the ball off the face of his bat and straight to Mayank Agarwal at short leg. Mayank comfortably pouched the catch, further speeding up the end of the innings.

Sri Lanka was blown away soon after as Ravindra Jadeja picked up two more wickets in two balls to complete a fifer to go with his 175-run knock in the first innings.

The all-rounder could do no wrong in Virat Kohli’s 100th Test, all but guaranteeing the Player of the Match award for himself. Rohit Sharma also decided to enforce follow-on as India has a lead of 400 and they will be looking to secure the game in the last two sessions on Day 3.
