Shikhar Dhawan is the first player on this list. Currently, Dhawan is a regular member of the team in ODIs. However, he gave a poor performance in the recent ODI series against Bangladesh. Ishan Kishan recently slammed a double century in an ODI match against Bangladesh and proved his strength to open in ODIs.

Axar Patel is another player who might be discarded from the ODI setup if he fails in the IND vs SL ODI series. Patel slammed a match-winning 64-run knock against West Indies last year. However, he failed to come up with such performances again.
