During a discussion on Cricbuzz, former India player Ajay Jadeja asked why every new captain wants to change the system in the Indian team. His comments came after India lost the 2nd T20I to Sri Lanka by 16 runs. Dinesh Karthik replied to Jadeja giving the reason why a change is needed in the team.
Hardik Pandya is the skipper of India in IND vs SL T20I series. He is also expected to take over the T20I captainship from Rohit Sharma in the shortest format. After India’s poor exit in ICC T20 World Cup 2022 under Rohit Sharma, selectors are looking for a split captain in the Indian team.

Why Every New Captain Wants to Change The System: Ajay Jadeja
During a discussion with Dinesh Karthik on Cricbuzz, Ajay Jadeja asked why every new skipper wants to change the system in the team.
“Why is it that every captain, at least three years I can think of that when Virat Kohli took over he wanted to change the way the Indian team played? Rohit Sharma took over, he wanted to change the way the Indian team played. Now, Hardik Pandya has taken over, he wants the Indian team to change. Why is it that everyone who comes in new wants to change the old system? What is the system problem there?”, Ajay Jadeja asked.
To this, Indian player and commentator Dinesh Karthik replied that the Indian team needs to change because they have not won an ICC tournament since 2013.
“The answer is in the fact that we haven’t won any multi-nation tournament. Since 2013, we haven’t won an ICC tournament. I don’t know in 2014 somebody would have come and said that I want to change something because we won the Champions Trophy. Here we haven’t won a T20 World Cup since 2007,” Dinesh Karthik answered.
Meanwhile, the IND vs SL T20I series is tied at 1-1 after Sri Lanka made a comeback in the 2nd T20I, winning it by 16 runs. Earlier, India won the 1st T20I by 2 runs. Now, the series-decider game will take place on January 7.
