IND vs SL: "Can't Keep On Taking Breaks"- Gautam Gambhir's Remarks On Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma

Indian Cricket Team is all set to play 3 T20I match series against Sri Lanka starting from 3rd January. The likes of Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli are not a part of the series where Rohit Sharma is yet to recover from the thumb injury that he sustained during the Bangladesh ODI Series.
India cannot make the mistake of taking Sri Lanka lightly after the 2022 Asia Cup defeat in the league stage. The Island nation would be hoping to spoil the party of India as they have got a long batting line up which allows them to bat fearlessly.

Gautam Gambhir on Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma
Gautam Gambhir was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and was asked about India’s roadmap for 2023 World Cup. “You need to identify the core as well which is very important. We chopped and changed too many things, too frequently as well. We never had a settled unit. And more importantly, you can’t keep on taking breaks. If the World Cup is around the corner, if you are playing the 50-over World Cup then at least our core, whether it is Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, all these guys have to play consistent cricket.” said Gautam Gambhir.

“They can’t keep on taking breaks. Suddenly, you will realize that by the time the World Cup is around the corner, you still don’t have a settled unit and then you start making too many changes, it will never work. That’s what happening for the last two World Cups, whether it is T20 or 50-over World Cup. So, I hope that guys don’t take much breaks, especially in the 50-over format.” he added.
Steep Road Ahead for India
The Men in Blue need to be spot on with their selection as Sri Lanka would come well prepared. Skipper Hardik Pandya would be well aware of the fact that Sri Lanka would spin a web around Indian batters. It would be interesting to see whether India go in with 3 spinners as Wankhede pitch is quite spin friendly.
If Chamika Karunaratne gets a game, then the management should use him as a floater as the batter has got some serious hitting ability. Skipper Dasun Shanaka would be hoping that the team performs better than 2022 T20I Series in India where they where completely outplayed.
