Former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim has stated that the premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is looked at as the future white-ball captain of India, is liked by many because of his attitude.
Hardik Pandya is currently leading India in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka at home in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma. Under the leadership of the 29-year-old, the Men In Blue sealed a 2-run victory in the nail-biting 1st T20I at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Speaking to India News, Karim said that captain Pandya needs to focus on his attitude and shouldn’t show a lot of emotions on the field because that can make players fearful.
“I think he needs to focus on his attitude. Everyone likes him as a player because of his attitude. As a captain, if you show a lot of emotions on the field, players will get fearful. I don’t think that’s the right thing for a team to grow. You have to trust your players,” said Karim.

I liked two things about captain Hardik Pandya – Saba Karim

The 55-year-old Saba Karim further highlighted two things he liked about Pandya’s captaincy in the first T20I. He said:
“I liked two things about captain Hardik Pandya. He said that he wanted to bat regardless of the toss. It means he knows the challenges ahead; bilateral matches are aside, but you have to learn something in every match and put your team in a tough situation.
“The second thing is that debutant Shivam Mavi bowled in the powerplay. It means that, as a captain, he wants to lead by example.”

Defending the target of 163, pacer Shivam Mavi impressed everyone on his debut as he ended his 4-over spell with the outstanding figures of 4-0-22-4.
