If the long wait has taught Surya to respect his accomplishment much more, he responded to India head coach Rahul Dravid, “It does make me, even more, hungrier now. I’ve played a lot of domestic cricket, which I’ve always enjoyed doing for Mumbai, my state team, and I always try to put on a show.”

“Even there, I enjoyed hitting. Yes, it was difficult in recent years, but I kept telling myself, “This is why you play this game, enjoy it,” and my passion for the game kept me going, so I just kept going,” Suryakumar Yadav added.

Suryakumar Yadav scored the second-fastest T20I century by an Indian batsman:

Suryakumar also had the second-fastest century by an Indian batsman in T20Is, scoring his third century in 45 balls.

In a T20I match against Sri Lanka, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma set a new record with a 35-ball century. This batting prodigy has now tied for the second-highest T20I century total.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma holds the record with four T20I hundreds. Suryakumar Yadav, Glenn Maxwell of Australia, and Colin Munro of New Zealand follow with three centuries each.

Suryakumar received the Man of the Match award for his match-winning century.

The two teams’ three-match One-Day International series will begin on January 10.
