IND vs SL: Suryakumar Yadav Feels He Is “Very Lucky” To Share Dressing Room With Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma

Suryakumar Yadav, who is the No.1 ranked batter in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, has said that he considers himself extremely lucky that he shares the dressing room with the modern-day batting greats Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

The 32-year-old Suryakumar, who has become a regular member of India’s limited-overs setup since making his debut in 2021, shares a great bond with both Rohit and Kohli.

He has been playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) under the leadership of Rohit Sharma for a long period and has become a key member of the side. Also, in recent times he has developed a good friendship with Kohli and they have been seen interacting a lot on social media.

In an interview with PTI, Suryakumar lauded Rohit and Kohli, labelling them as a “different breed of international cricketers” and expressed his gratitude for having gotten the opportunity to play with them. He asserted:

“I am actually very lucky that I share dressing room with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. They are a different breed of international cricketers. Things they have achieved, I don’t know I will be ever able to achieve that.”

Suryakumar further mentioned that he has stitched-up good partnerships with Kohli in recent times and said that he has enjoyed batting alongside the modern-day batting great. The 32-year-old added that the India and MI captain Rohit is like an elder brother and a guiding force for him. He elaborated:

“Recently, I have had some good partnerships with Virat bhai and I have enjoyed batting with him. Rohit is like an elder brother and my sounding board. When I am in doubt, I ask him direct questions about my game. He has been a good guiding force since I joined MI in 2018.”

Suryakumar Yadav, who has scored over 1400 T20I runs at a strike rate of 180.97, will next be seen in action in the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka tour of India 2023 consists of three ODIs and three T20Is. The T20Is will be played on January 3, 5 and 7 in Mumbai, Pune and Rajkot respectively. Meanwhile, the ODIs will be played on January 10, 12, and 15 in Guwahati Kolkata, and Trivandrum respectively.
