Yuzvendra Chahal of Team India has been challenged by Danish Kaneria to improve his bowling following the leg spinner’s poor showing in the first T20I series matches against Sri Lanka on January 3.

Until Chahal attempts to give air to the ball, the former Pakistani cricketer predicts that Chahal would continue to have difficulty in white-ball cricket. Kaneria said that the skillful spinner’s recent performances haven’t yielded enough spin off the pitch.

Yuzvendra Chahal Needs To Flight The Ball: Danish Kaneria

Kaneria remarked on his YouTube channel on Wednesday:

“Yuzvendra Chahal needs to work on his bowling. He hasn’t been able to spin the ball a lot in recent matches. He will not be able to take wickets unless he looks to flight the ball. You need a spinner to dominate during the middle overs.”

Notably, in the opening T20I of the present series at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Chahal was thoroughly beaten by the Sri Lankan hitters. The 32-year-old was unable to take a single wicket in the game and let up 26 runs in his two overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal is India’s second-highest wicket-taker in T20Is with 87 wickets from 72 games. His most recent efforts in the smallest format, nevertheless, have fallen short.

In November of last year, he took two wickets from three matches in India’s three-match T20I series with New Zealand at an 8.71 economy rate.

Hardik Pandya Showed Immense Courage As Captain: Danish Kaneria

Danish Kaneria, in contrast, praised Indian captain Hardik Pandya for his valiant leadership in the first T20I match against Sri Lanka.

When Sri Lanka needed 13 runs to win, Pandya supported left-arm spinner Axar Patel in the closing overs, he observed. Kaneria commended the all-rounder for helping the bowler in a time of need.

The man, 42, said:

“Hardik Pandya showed immense courage as captain. Commentators, including Ajit Agarkar, questioned his decision to give Axar Patel the final over. But he was probably struggling with cramps after taking a catch.

“We saw how Hardik was telling Axar Patel that he would take responsibility for the loss if he went for runs. When the captain does that, it gives the bowler a lot of confidence.”

Axar performed a great job in the crucial last at-bat, aiding the Men in Blue to squeeze out a two-run win and take a 1-0 series lead. On January 5, the second Twenty20 International between the two countries will be contested at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
