Sunrisers Hyderabad is an IPL cricket franchise based in Hyderabad. They are owned by Sun TV Network. In 2013, they replaced the Deccan Chargers in the league after their owners Deccan Chronicle went bankrupt. They play their homes in the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

David Warner has scored the most number of runs for the franchise while Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the most number of wickets. Under David Warner’s captaincy in 2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad won their first and only IPL trophy till date. In IPL 2023, South Africa’s Aiden Markram was appointed as the captain of the franchise after Kane Williamson was released.

Sunrisers Hyderabad began their journey in the IPL in a promising manner by making it to the playoffs in 2013. It was followed by two disappointing campaigns as they failed to advance ahead of the league stage in 2014 and 2015. They finally tasted success in 2016 under the inspirational captaincy of David Warner.

The Australia star led the team from the very front and scored more than 800 runs to take his team to glory. In 2017, Sunrisers Hyderabad made it to the playoffs once again before advancing to the final in 2018. They qualified for the playoffs in 2019 and 2020 too but have failed to do well in recent seasons. In the last three seasons, they have not been able to progress ahead of the league stage.
