Ashes 2021-22: England Coach Chris Silverwood Seeking To Find A Way Of Coming Back In Last Two Tests

England may have lost the Ashes 2021-22 series but their coach Chris Silverwood is looking to find of way of coming back in the last two games. England faced a miserable loss in the series 3-0 after losing the first three opening games of the five-match series.

On Tuesday, England were bowled out for just 68 runs in the 3rd Test in the final innings and lost the match by an innings and 14 runs. Batting first in the match, England were bowled out for 185 in the 1st innings. Australia responded with 267-10, putting an 82-run lead on England. Later, the Joe Root side succumbed to Australia’s bowling attack.

We Have To Find A Way Of Pushing Back And Scoring Runs Against Australia: Chris Silverwood

While responding to England’s defeat, their coach Chris Silverwood said that his team will have to find a way of pushing back against Australia in the next two games. Notably, he mentioned that his team will have to score runs against Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc.

“Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc are also world-class. That said, we have to find a way of competing, find a way of pushing back and scoring runs against them.

“That is certainly something we will be reflecting on in the dressing room as we want to take something away from this series and compete in the last two Test matches. The way we caught in the last innings was good as well. There are positives coming out of this,” Chris Silverwood.

Talking about the changes in the playing XI in the 3rd Test, Chris Silverwood said that they have some youngsters who are learning the job constantly.

“We do know who are our best 11 players are, but we had to make changes after the first two games. We knew we had good people to come in. We have some world-class players and some youngsters who are learning on the job constantly”.

All the three Tests so far have been one-sided, with Australia dominating the games. Australia won the 1st Test by 9 wickets and the 2nd Test by 275 runs. In the 3rd Test, their victory margin rose even higher to an innings and 14 runs. Now, England and Australia will lock horns in the 4th Test at Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.
