Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar reacted after Ben Stokes survived a bizarre delivery during AUS vs ENG 4th Test of Ashes 2021-22. The batting legend shared a tweet with the viral video of the incident, in which the ball hit the stumps but did not dislodge the bails.

During day 3 of Australia vs England 4th Test at Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday, Ben Stokes faced a stunning pace delivery by Aussie pacer Cameron Green in the 31st over. During the replays, it was seen that the ball hit the off-stump but did not dislodge the bails. Hence, it emerged as one of the bizarre and surprising moments in the game of cricket, leaving the on-field and off-field spectators totally confused.

Should We Introduce New Law Called ‘Hitting The Stumps’: Tweets Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar reacted to the incident on the micro-blogging platform Twitter. The former Indian opener posted a tweet in which he took a hilarious jibe at the incident. Tendulkar asked if there should be a law for such events called ‘hitting the stumps’. He also tagged Shane Warne in his tweet.

“Should a law be introduced called ‘hitting the stumps’ after the ball has hit them but not dislodged the bails? What do you think guys? Let’s be fair to bowlers!”, Sachin Tendulkar tweeted. Have a look at the tweet below.

While Ben Stokes left the delivery, Australian players saw a clear deflection of the ball and appealed for LBW. Umpire agreed to the same and gave Stokes out, however, the England all-rounder reviewed the decision. In the replays, it was seen that the ball did not hit the pads. Moreover, the delivery hit the off-stump but the bails did not fall. Rather, the ball was deflected after hitting the stumps.

Meanwhile, England reached 258-7 on the scoreboard at the stumps of day 3 of Australia vs England 4th Test of Ashes 2021-22. While Stokes scored 66 runs, Jonny Bairstow slammed a marvellous century and is currently unbeaten on 103. England trails by 158 runs in the match.

Earlier, Australia batted first and posted 416-8 (d). Usman Khawaja, who played his first Test after a gap of two years, slammed an impeccable knock of 137 runs. Steve Smith also played an impressive knock of 67 runs. Australia has already won the Ashes 2021-22 series 3-0 after winning the first three Tests.
