Sunrisers Hyderabad has replaced David Warner with Kane Williamson as the captain of the franchise for the remainder of the tournament and things aren’t looking good for them as of now. Although the official reason behind the sacking hasn’t been announced, it is expected that the rift between Warner and the franchise in team selection has resulted in the move. Warner has scored 193 runs in 6 games so far at a strike rate of nearing 110.

In the post-match interview against Delhi Capitals, Warner mentioned that he did not opt to leave out Manish Pandey and it was the SRH team management that made the harsh call. Warner’s struggles with the bat were evident in the previous game where he couldn’t get the boundaries and he is also holding up an overseas position.

With Bairstow and Williamson in good shape now, SRH might make a brave call to drop him too. He might be switching from the franchise next year and here are 3 teams who can pick David Warner in the IPL 2022 Auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders haven’t had the best of seasons this year and the new skipper Eoin Morgan who took over the captaincy from the midway of last IPL hasn’t been very effective too.

Morgan couldn’t take the team to the playoffs in the last season and there were a lot of expectations on him to take the franchise. An overseas skipper is always going to be a risk and KKR will be looking to change their plans for the mega auction next year.

David Warner is one of the best captains in the IPL and also one of the prolific run scorers at the top of the order over the years. If Sunrisers let go of David Warner this season, then KKR could make the most out of it, as it solves their captaincy issue and it gets them a consistent destructive opener. With Russell and Dinesh Karthik in the middle order, David Warner could be the best addition to the side at the top as it covers all their bases.

Punjab Kings:

Punjab Kings did not make the playoffs in the previous edition and they haven’t started this season as they would have liked to. There have been issues over their weak middle-order and lack of all-rounders in the team. They have won three games and lost four games in their campaign so far and are lying at the fifth position on the table.

KL Rahul took over the reins last year and ever since that, despite his consistent run-scoring, his strike rate has gone down considerably. With Gayle ageing, this could be the last IPL for him and hence Punjab will be looking for an aggressive opener alongside KL Rahul in the mega auction.

Also, relieving Rahul off the duties of captaincy might just be the solution to increase his strike rate. Punjab could be eyeing David Warner in the 2022 IPL auction.

Rajasthan Royals:

Rajasthan Royals have been the most affected team due to the pandemic as they have already lost the services of four overseas players. Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were injured and ruled out of the tournament while Andrew Tye and Liam Livingstone pulled out of the tournament citing pandemic restrictions. They are currently at the seventh position, with 4 points on board in 6 matches.

Royals have a young captain in Sanju Samson and they will need an experienced campaigner who can guide him in the upcoming years. David Warner will be the best choice they will have in the auction next year, and he can take the franchise to the next level in coming years. Royals have the likes of Buttler at the top and Warner alongside could make a destructive pair at the top of the order.
