The Australian cricketers have performed really well in IPL over the years and they have generally been preferred by the franchises in the auction for their immense capabilities. They have been one of the dominant sides in the world and they have produced some world-class cricketers which have attracted a lot of franchises.

Pat Cummins is the number one test bowler in the world in the ICC rankings and he certainly has the edge over the other fast bowler with his wicket-taking abilities, bowling those yorkers and he can be very handy batsmen down the order. He has played for three franchises which included the Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, and Mumbai Indians.

He became the most expensive player in the 2020 Auction as he was bought by the KKR franchise for a whopping 15.5 crores. He did not have the best of IPL in the 2020 edition but was retained for the 2021 season and he showed out his finesse with the bat and ball. He is the fifth highest-paid Australian cricketer with INR 37.5 crores.

Steve Smith has played for a number of franchises including the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Pune Warriors India, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Rising Pune Supergiants, Rajasthan Royals, and finally, the Delhi Capitals this season. He led the Royals side for a long time and was released after the 2020 edition.

Steve Smith’s highest earnings came in the 2018 season where he was retained for 12.5 crores by the Rajasthan side but he couldn’t play a game as he was banned from IPL for one year and then returned as captain of the side in the midway of the 2019 season. His current earnings are 2.2 crores for the Delhi Capitals and he is fourth in the overall highest-paid Australians in IPL history.

The “big show” Glenn Maxwell has been one of the most demanded players in the IPL despite his inconsistency and poor performances. Maxwell has played for four franchises so far which include the Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, and Royal Challengers Bangalore in his IPL career.

His ability to win matches on his own makes him a game-changer and the franchises have always been involved in bidding wars for him in the auction. He was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 14.25 crores in this year’s IPL auction and his performances were really good this year. He is third among the most expensive players from Australia.

David Warners is one of the best IPL players in the history of the tournament and he has been a stalwart for his side. He is the epitome of consistency in IPL and has captained the Sunrisers Hyderabad side to a title win in 2016. He has played for the Delhi Daredevils and the Sunrisers Hyderabad so far in IPL.

His highest earnings came for the Sunrisers side from the 2018 season where he was retained for 12.5 crores and he has come really from far as he started off with just being paid 14.73 lakhs by the Delhi Daredevils side in 2009. He is one of the most explosive openers in IPL and is an excellent captain too.

Shane Watson has been paid the highest amount of money so far in IPL history among the Australians with 77.13 crores. He retired from the IPL last year after being released by the Chennai Super Kings and he is one of the best all-rounders in the tournament’s history.

He started with the Rajasthan Royals in 2008 winning the maiden IPL trophy and then played for the RCB for two years in 2016 and 2017. He went to the Chennai Super Kings in the 2018 season and won the IPL again. His highest earnings came in the 2014 and 2015 editions for the Rajasthan Royals where he was retained and he finished off with earnings of 4 crores for the Chennai Super Kings in the last three years.
