3. Comparing Bowlers With Bikes
Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad reached the final in IPL 2018. Ahead of the match during a press conference, a reporter asked CSK skipper MS Dhoni how difficult it was not to give the ball to Harbhajan Singh. He also asked whether he will give him the ball in the final game.
To this, Dhoni gave a funny reply. He said that he has many cars and bikes in his garage but he does not ride them all at a time. Similarly, it works for bowlers too.
“You know, I have a lot of cars and bikes in my garage. And, I don’t ride all at a time. When you have six to seven bowlers in your side, you want to see the conditions. You want to see who is batting and what is needed at that point of time,” Dhoni said.
2. About Picking Young Squad
After losing the Test series 0-4 in Australia in 2011-12, India opted for a younger squad for an upcoming triangular CB series in Australia. During a press conference ahead of the tournament, a reporter asked Dhoni about the selection of youngsters in the series.
To this Dhoni replied, “from Kishore Kumar, we have gone to Sean Paul”. He also added that ‘no matter how good the senior players are, there comes a transition phase when one generations has to be replaced by a new generation’.
1. About Helicopter Shots
India hosted Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series in 2016. After losing the opening game, the Indian team made a comeback by winning the 2nd match. During the press conference after the game, a reporter asked MS Dhoni why he didn’t play helicopter shots as often as he used to do in the past. To this Dhoni gave a savage response.
He said, “See you don’t fly a helicopter under the ocean or in a submarine. In the same way, u play a helicopter shot to a certain delivery. I can’t hit it off a bouncer, may be if I stand on a toll and go for it. With the current opposition strategy, it is very hard to play that shot”.
