Country-wise Highest-ranked T20 International Spinner

The T20 World Cup fever has already started with the announcement of the dates of India- Pakistan group stage fixture and spinners have dominated the T20I rankings for bowlers. It is not always that the top 10 bowlers in T20 international rankings have a lot of spinners and those are good signs going into the big tournament.

The venue UAE will offer a little bit of assistance for the spinners and the spinners have to bowl in the right lengths to be productive enough. The T20 World Cup 2021 is scheduled to start on October 17 2021 and will end on November 14, 2021. With just two months away, here is the country-wise highest-ranked T20 international spinner.

Country-wise Highest-ranked T20 International Spinner:

Imad Wasim – 28:

Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Imad Wasim is 28th on the list of ICC rankings for T20 international bowlers and he is the highest-ranked spinner from the country in T20Is. Imad Wasim opens the bowling most of the time and his economy rate is exceptional in the powerplay with his tight lines and good speeds. Imad Wasim has an overall economy rate of just 6.40 which is one of the hall-mark of his bowling.

Shakib Al Hasan – 21:

Shakib Al Hasan is one of the top all-rounders going around in the world in all formats and he has immense experience in the format playing in the IPL and global franchise tournaments. He is currently 21st in the ICC T20I rankings for bowlers and is the highest-ranked T20I bowler from Bangladesh. Shakib has 97 wickets in 81 T20Is at an economy rate of 6.79 which is exceptional considering he is a top-order batsman as well.

Washington Sundar – 17:

Washington Sundar hasn’t been at his prime best yet but he still is 17th in the ICC T20I bowling rankings. He is the highest-ranked bowler among the Indian contingent in the T20I rankings. Sundar has been a regular feature in the Indian T20 side unless he is hit by injuries and he is more of a defensive bowler rather than taking wickets. He will be looking to make it to the T20 Worldcup squad.

Fabien Allen – 10:

Fabien Allen is currently at the 10th position in the ICC T20I bowler rankings and he had a terrific series against Australia which helped him gain more slots. The left-arm spinner is a handy hitter down the order and he has been containing the run flow in the middle overs as well. He will be one of the players to watch out for in the T20 Worldcup and he is the highest-ranked spinner from West Indies.

Ish Sodhi – 9:

Ish Sodhi will be a big factor in New Zealand’s progress as a T20I team and the Kiwi was very impressive in the five-match T20I series earlier this year against Australia. Sodhi is currently ranked 9th in the ICC T20I bowling rankings and he is the highest-ranked spinner from New Zealand. He is a wicket-taking bowler and uses his height to get that extra bounce to trouble the batsmen.

Adam Zampa – 7:

Adam Zampa is very exciting to watch as he has got all the qualities to become the best leg spinner in the world. Zampa is ranked seventh in the ICC T20I bowler rankings and he is the highest-ranked spinner for his nation. He had some decent outings against West Indies and he can change a match in a very quick time. His economy rate is 7.01 in overall T20Is which is excellent considering he is a leggie.

Adil Rashid – 4:

Adil Rashid has been England’s best limited-overs bowler in the last couple of years and he is currently ranked 4th in the ICC T20I bowler rankings. Rashid’s numbers are really good considering the fact that he has been bowling in seamer-friendly conditions in England and he has picked up 65 wickets in 62 games at an average of 24.3.

Rashid Khan – 3:

Rashid Khan is no doubt, the best spinner going around in the world considering all formats and he has dropped to the third position in the ICC T20I bowler rankings after topping the charts for a long time. Rashid has been Afghanistan’s highest-ranked spinner and the 22-year-old has picked up 95 wickets in 51 games at an average of 21.6 which is unbelievable. He is a match-winner and will be key to his nation’s plans.

Wanindu Hasaranga – 2:

Wanindu Hasaranga was one of the star performers in the series win against India recently and his excellent performances pushed him up the charts to number two in the ICC T20I bowler rankings. His growth will be a big positive for Sri Lanka ahead of the T20 Worldcup and he has been brilliant with the bat as well. Hasaranga averages 14.4 with the ball in T20Is which is a big thing to note.

Tabraiz Shamsi -1:

Tabraiz Shamsi leads the chart in the ICC T20I bowler rankings with some outstanding performances over the last year or so in the limited-overs format. The left-arm chinaman has been very consistent in picking up 45 wickets in 39 T20I games at an average of 22.1 and his economy rate has been below 7. He will lead the spin attack for South Africa in the T20 Worldcup.
