Angelo Mathews became the latest batsman to be dismissed on 199 on day 2 of the first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at Chattogram. He took a toll on the Bangladesh bowlers on a placid batting track but was unfortunately dismissed one short of his second double ton Test cricket. The former Pakistan batsman was dismissed on the score of 199 against India back in 1984 in Faislabad. Nazar remains one of the most celebrated Test cricketers of Pakistan and one of the best batsmen across generations.

Azharuddin was the first Indian batsman to be dismissed on 199 in Test cricket. This happened way back in 1986 just when he started his career. He was dismissed on the tragic score in the first Test against Sri Lanka when they toured India.

Matthew Elliot vs England 1997

Elliot was one of the first Australian cricketers to be dismissed on 199. The Aussies won the match by an innings and 61 runs after scoring a mammoth 501 in their first innings. The bowlers then dismissed England for 172 and 268 in the two innings.

Sanath Jayasuriya was dismissed for 199 in the second innings of the Test match against India in Colombo on the tragic score of 199. Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly also score centuries for India as the batters dominated the Test match and it ended in a draw.

The former Australian skipper Steve Waugh was dismissed on 199 against Wets Indies in Bridgetown back in 1999. Waugh is one of the most decorated captains of Australia and a World Cup winner in 21999. He took retirement from the game in 2004.

Younis Khan was one of the best batsmen Pakistan has ever produced. He was a prolific run-scorer across formats and one of those few unlucky batters who was dismissed on 199. This happened in 2006 in Lahore. The match ended in a draw.

Ian Bell is the only England batsman to be dismissed on 199 against South Africa at Lord’s back in 2008 Bell was one of the most consistent batters across formats for England. He had a glorified career scoring 7727 Test runs and 5416 ODI runs for England before retiring from the game in 2015.

They scored 247/7d in their second innings. Bangladesh were dismissed for 320 and 90 in the two innings as South Africa won by a massive 333 runs.

The former South African skipper also has a 199 against his name. He played this knock against Sri Lanka in Centurion in 2020. Faf has now retired from Test cricket and is working hard to be picked in the squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Mathews is the latest name to be dismissed for 199. This happened in the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh in Chattogram. Mathews is also the only batsman in the game of cricket to be dismissed both on 99 and 199 in Test cricket.
