The Tripura Cricket Team represents the state of Tripura in India's domestic cricket. It is governed by the Tripura Cricket Association and plays its home games at the Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium, Agartala.
Talking about Tripura Cricket Team's history, cricket developed in the state very late compared to the other regions of the country. The Tripura Cricket Association was formed in 1968. On the other hand, the Tripura cricket team was founded in the year 1985. The team made its debut in the Ranji Trophy in 1985-86 season.
Tripura has struggled to make a big impact in the domestic circuit as of now. In first-class cricket so far, they have less than a dozen wins until 2024 and more than 120 losses. The performance in List A cricket is not very impressive either. Till 2024, Tripura has less than 40 wins in List A cricket and more than 110 losses.
In its debut Ranji Trophy season, Tripura lost all of its four games including three defeats by an innings. In the following season, Tripura drew the first match and lost the next three. The Tripura cricket team finally won its first Ranji Trophy game in January 2006 when it defeated Himachal Pradesh by 130 runs.
