India will be hosting West Indies for an ODI and T20I series following their series against South Africa. The IND vs WI ODI series will be played from 6-11 February in Ahmedabad. The T20I games will be played between February 16-20 at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The BCCI decided to host the games at just two venues to negate the threat of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 saw several Indian domestic players perform throughout the season. Both young and experienced players performed expecting to finally make their debut for the Indian team across formats. In this article, we will have a look at 3 players who can make it to the Indian ODI squad given their Vijay Hazare Trophy performance
IND vs WI: 3 Players From The Vijay Hazare Trophy Who Can Make It To The India Squad
Ruturaj Gaikwad- 603 Runs In 5 Matches Avg- 150.75
Gaikwad was included in the Indian squad for the ODI series against South Africa. However, he was not included in any of the three games. The youngster has been dishing out consistent performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He top-scored in 2021 with 605 runs from five games. If these stats are anything to go by, Gaiwad should be playing all the three ODIs against the Windies in Ahmedabad.
Rishi Dhawan- 458 Runs, 17 Wickets
Multiple reports suggest that Rishi Dhawan is likely to be included in the Indian squad for the IND vs WI ODI series. Dhawan made his international debut for India back in 2016 and has played three ODIs to date. His all-round performance for Himachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy should act as a catalyst for his recall into the Indian white-ball setup. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, Dhaan can throw in his name in the list of all-rounders that the management would like to try in the meantime.
Shivam Mavi-15 Wickets
Mavi with his raw pace can be a good addition to the Indian team setup. The UP cricketer took 15 wickets in the last Vijay Hazare Trophy. With the team management looking to add new bowlers to its already established group, Mavi can certainly be a good option. He is almost ready to play international cricket and will only improve if given consistent opportunities.
