IND vs WI: 3 Players Who Can Make It To The India Squad Based On Their IPL 2021 Performance

IPL has often been recognised as a performance parameter for young Indian cricketers to make an entry into the senior squad. The likes of Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan are names who made it through to the Indian senior cricket team purely due to their performances in the IPL. The IND vs WI series coincides with the IPL 2022 mega auctions.

The auction will be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 12. The IND vs WI series starts with a three-match ODI series in Ahmedabad between February 8-11. The T20Is will be played in Kolkata between February 16-18.

Harshal ended with 32 wickets, the most for IPL 2021. One more wicket and he would have been the bowlers with most wickets in an IPL season overtaking Dwayne Bravo’s record of 32 wickets in IPL 2013. Harshal’s stock delivery is his slower ball which he bowls accurately without any significant change in his action. He surely should be in contention for the IND vs WI ODI and T20I series.

Varun Chakravarthy

The mystery spinner finished with 18 wickets for the season and took the most wickets amongst the spinners at a better economy and strike rate. Varun was a part of the Indian squad that played Sri Lanka last year followed by the T20 World Cup. Giving him all six games in the series will be a good way to judge his potential given that this is the T20 World Cup year and the management has plenty of options in terms of selection.

Arshdeep Singh

The youngster was retained by Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. He finished with 18 wickets in IPL 2021. The youngster is yet to make his India debut and the upcoming home series against West Indies followed by Sri Lanka will be a good way to test his skills. The lack of left-arm pace bowlers in the Indian cricket circle currently makes him a significant pick. In fact, all the three players mentioned in this article can be picked in both the squads to be announced for the West Indies series.
