Rishabh Pant delivered a Man of The Match performance in the second T20I against West Indies in Kolkata. He scored an unbeaten 52 off 28 balls and was involved in a crucial 76-run stand that took India to 186/5 in their 20 overs.

West Indies in the end, fell short by 8 runs despite the 100-run partnership between Nicholas Pooran (62) and Rovman Powell (68). For Pant, it was his third T20I fifty and a special one.

After the game, he spoke about his performance and said that he is happy to bat anywhere in the batting order. Pant has batted at various positions in this series so far. He was sent to open the batting in the ODIs, an experiment that did not work out as the team wanted. He batted at number four in the first ODI and at number five in the third and final game. Pant was sent at number four in the first T20I and fifth in the second.

I Don’t Mind Playing The Situation: Rishabh Pant

“As long as the team wants me to bat anywhere, I am fine. I don’t mind playing the situation and not only at the death. The more you practice, the better you get” said Pant.

“The only thing we (during partnership with Venkatesh Iyer) were talking was we will play according to every ball. It is never easy to play every game but this is what I have always wanted to do. I always enjoy what I do” he said about his partnership with Ventakesh Iyer. Both added 76 for the fifth wicket in quick time.

India skipper Rohit Sharma praised Pant and Iyer for their crucial partnership. He further praised the all-rounder for his progress in a very short space of time.

“Great finish from Pant and Iyer as well. Very happy to see how he (Venkatesh Iyer) has progressed. To see such maturity is very pleasing. He backs his skills and that is what every captain wants. In the end, he wanted to bowl one over as well. We need such characters in our team” said Rohit.
