In pursuit of a 157-run total in the first T20 international, Rohit Sharma gave the team a powerful start in the second innings. He set his intentions quite clear right from the onset of his innings. Rohit played aggressively and scored 40 runs in just 19 deliveries.

He would look to play with a similar mindset in the next game as well. His partner, Ishan Kishan, however, struggled in the middle, especially against the spinners. He used up 42 deliveries for 35 runs, a knock which was laced with 4 fours. It will be interesting to how he plays on Friday.

Middle-Order: Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav

Virat Kohli played an uncharacteristic knock of 17 runs in 13 balls in the last game. His poor form with the bat is a big concern for the team. Nevertheless, you still expect him to be part of the playing XI. Rishabh Pant’s inconsistently is also a thing to worry.

India might play Ishan Kishan as the keeper and rest Rishabh Pant for the next game but being the vice-captain of the team, you don’t expect him to be getting dropped. Suryakumar Yadav is consistently scoring the important runs for the team and this should keep the team feel a lot more positive.

He played a match-winning unbeaten 34-run knock off 18 balls in the last game, which means that Shreyas Iyer is unlikely to slot in the playing XI for the next game as well.

All-rounders: Venkatesh Iyer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel

Venkatesh Iyer made valuable contributions with both bat and ball in the last game. He bowled one over and conceded only 4 runs and, later, played a valuable 24-run unbeaten cameo off 13 balls. Iyer has shown great promise in whatever matches he has played so far. Expect him to be part of the playing XI.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar didn’t take the world by storm but looked good in the last game as compared to the earlier matches. He finished with figures of 1 for 31 in 4 overs. With swing on offer in Kolkata, one can expect him, once again, to open the attack for the team. Harshal Patel also made great use of his slower balls and, his ability to bat, would help him to help to get the preference ahead of other bowlers.

Bowlers: Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Siraj, and Yuzvendra Chahal

Both Ravi Bishnoi and Yuzvendra Chahal were brilliant in the middle-overs. They put the brakes on the run-scoring after picking three wickets between them. Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of 2 for 17 in 4 overs.

Yuvzendra Chahal went for 17 runs in his final over but, was outstanding in his first three overs. Deepak Chahar got injured in the last game while fielding. He could be replaced with Mohammed Siraj in the next match.
