IND vs WI: The Way Rohit Sharma Has Steadied The Team, The Players Have The Clarity – Sunil Gavaskar

Legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar has praised the new Indian all-format captain Rohit Sharma for his leadership skills.

Rohit Sharma has been undefeated since being appointed as full-time captain of the India National Cricket Team. Under Rohit, India won three-match T20 International series against New Zealand by 3-0 at home.

Also, India recently won the three-match One Day International series against the West Indies National Cricket Team at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad by 3-0 and the three-match T20 International series by 3-0 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Notably, Rohit Sharma has also been appointed as the new Test captain of the India team after Virat Kohli decided to step down from his following the Test series defeat against Dean Elgar-led South Africa.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed Rohit as the new Test captain while making the squad announcement for the series against Sri Lanka.

Batting legend Gavaskar, speaking on Sports Tak, said that the way Rohit speaks to the players it looks like the players have clarity about their roles and what the captain expects from him.

“The way he has steadied the team, the players have the clarity (about their roles). I am not saying that the clarity wasn’t there before as that would be wrong as I am not inside the dressing room.

“From the way Rohit Sharma speaks, it seems like players know their roles and know what the captain and team expect from them. So, the players are trying their best to live up to the expectations and responsibility,” said Gavaskar.
