Dinesh Karthik has given his take on Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid ahead of India’s white-ball series against West Indies at home. Kohli is a part of both ODI and T20I squads announced for the series. This will be Dravid’s first white-ball series at home as a coach with captain Rohit Sharma

India will play its 1000th ODI when they take on the visitors in the first ODI in Ahmedabad on February 6. Ahead of the series, Dinesh Karthik has spoken about Kohli’s legacy as Test captain and the responsibilities of Dravid as a coach going forward.

He has led India so well and he has taken the Test team to a very strong place. As a person who has been part of the team and has played under him, I know the amount of effort he puts in every time he goes out to the field,” Karthik told ANI.

“He gives it everything he has. It has been a great joy for me to have been part of that journey, he has been one of the top captains for India in Test cricket, I hope when he turns back, he looks at all the pleasant memories and the good memories and he has a good time thinking about the success he has had as the captain,” Karthik further added on Kohli.

On Rahul Dravid‘s future as India head coach, Dinesh Karthik said the Indian head coach will give ample opportunities for players to rest and will also take up the initiative to talk to the players personally. He said that Dravid will ensure that the players accommodate themselves in a better way as well.

“We do have a lot of matches but players are given ample opportunity to rest, Rahul Dravid is the kind of person who will encourage players to speak how they are feeling mentally and physically. He will accommodate players’ wishes in terms of giving rest so I think India is in a very safe space right now,” he added.

The BCCI and the selectors have decided to rest Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami for the upcoming series at home.
