Ravi Bishnoi made his international debut in the first T20I against India. Before the start of the game, he was given his maiden cap by Yuzvendra Chahal. Bishnoi after going through the hard yards in domestic and IPL cricket finally made his much-awaited debut for India.

He was first introduced by skipper Rohit Sharma in the eighth over of the West Indian innings. The side was already two down by then with both their openers dismissed. Nicholas Pooran (61) was batting alongside Roston Chase.

Bishnoi started his spell by bowling a googly. In the very second delivery of his over he dismissed the right-hander. Bishnoi bowled a googly and Chase (4) was found plumb in front of the wicket. After thinking hard, Chase went and took the review. The replays showed that the ball was making no contact with the bat and was heading on to hit the stumps. Thus Chase became Ravi Bishnoi’s first T20I international wicket.

On the fifth delivery of the same over, Bishnoi dismissed Rovman Powell (2). He bowled a fuller delivery just outside the off-stump. Powell tried to fetch it from there and ended up hitting it straight to Venkatesh Iyer who was fielding at long-on. The two strikes dented The Windies innings to some extent and they finished well short of where they would have liked to.

West Indies ended their innings on 157/7 with Bishnoi bowling a spell of 2/17. He was congratulated by his teammates after he took the wickets in the same over.

Ravi Bishnoi also spoke about his performance in the mid-innings break. He said that he was nervous at the start of the game but then washed into the process. The only blip in his otherwise phenomenal day on the field was that he misjudged the boundary line after taking Pollard’s catch and stepped on the advertising boards giving the Windies skipper a life. Pollard scored an unbeaten 24 off 19 balls.

“I was a bit nervous and excited. I had thought there was more space behind me and hence took the extra step (on his catch). I was just trying to bowl stump to stump and not give them room because they have the power to clear the boundary. The dew is there but it is a good total and the ball was sticking early on, but will come on nicely now because of the dew” said Bishnoi.
