Just IN: Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer & Ruturaj Gaikwad Test Positive For Covid-19 Ahead Of ODI Series vs West Indies

The Indian team has been hit by a wave of COVID-19 as three players from the current squad have tested positive for the virus ahead of the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies which begin from February 6 onwards in Ahmedabad.
The Indian team had landed in Ahmedabad last Sunday and following three-day quarantine, were supposed to start training from Thursday. While the entire team tested negative in the first round of RT-PCR tests taken upon arrival, three players tested positive for the virus in the second test taken on Wednesday.
Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad And Shreyas Iyer Test COVID Positive
The New Indian Express has reported on February 2, 2022, that Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, And Shreyas Iyer are the three players who have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Though the players and the support staff have not mixed together yet, the rest of the squad has been advised isolation and will undergo another round of RT-PCR tests Thursday morning.
India is scheduled to play West Indies in three ODIs in Narendra Modi stadium in Mmotera, Ahmedabad on Feb 6, 9, and 11. Out of the squad, KL Rahul, the vice-captain will be available from the second match onwards and senior pacers like Mohammed Shami, apart from Bumrah have bees rested for the series.
