Since the pandemic hit the Indian team, their resources have depleted. The tactics and strategy they would have devised before the start of the game would have gotten nullified and Rohit Sharma and co. will have to find another way out.

Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaikwad have both tested positive. The BCCI called up Mayank Agarwal and Ishan Kishan as a result, and it isn’t confirmed who will open with Rohit Sharma. As per the former cricketer Saba Karim, it will be a tough challenge.

Rohit will have to think if he will play Ishan Kishan at No. 4 or he will wait for KL Rahul and play someone else. So you will see a lot of changes. It will be very difficult for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to play with a settled unit.”

The second thing is that West Indies are also coming out of such a phase; they have also invested a lot in youngsters, and all of them play with an open mind. So I feel it will be a challenging assignment for Rohit and Rahul Dravid,” Karim told India News.

“I have full hope that Rahul Dravid will overcome these difficulties” – Rajkumar Sharma

Dravid is no stranger to adversities. He has had tough times coaching the U-19 team but he has managed to pull through each and every time. Although there is a difference between the senior team and the U-19 team, the situation is quite similar, as per Rajkumar Sharma.

It is unfortunate that such difficulties are coming in front of him as soon as he joined. But Rahul Dravid is very intelligent, and he knows how to counter these difficulties.”

He has a lot of coaching experience as well because he was managing the India A and junior team for a long time. It is a different thing that is the senior team where the difficulties are of a slightly different type, but I have full hope that the sort of character he has, he will overcome these difficulties,” Sharma maintained.

The 3-match ODI series against West Indies will begin on February 6.
