PAK vs WI Match Preview- West Indies Tour Of Pakistan 2022, 1st ODI

West Indies take on Pakistan in the first ODI in Multan on June 8. All the three matches will be played in Multan. West Indies previously played a T20I series in December last year in Pakistan. The ODI leg was postponed to June 2022 after a covid scare in the visiting camp.

Australia’s recent trip to Pakistan was one of the recent highlights of the country’s infrastructure for hosting international cricket again. Babar Azam will lead this Pakistan team while Nicholas Pooran will lead West Indies after the international retirement of Kieron Pollard.

The Windies side will head into this tour after playing an ODI series against the Netherlands. When they last travelled to Pakistan for a T20I series last year, they were whitewashed in the three-match series. This team under Nicholas Pooran’s captaincy thus is back with some unfinished business.

They will be eyeing to win the T20I series, a format in which they specialise. Alongside Pooran, the squad has Shai Hope, Brandon King and Rovman Powell. Jason Holder and Shimron Heymyer both of whom played in the IPL are not a part of this side.

The Men in Green have named a full-strength squad for the T20I series. Shadab Khan is back into the side after a groin injury kept him out of the Australia series. Asif Afridi, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, and Usman Qadir are the players left out.

Among the players included are names like Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Hasan Ali. another key player Imad Wasim is also not a part of this side. Chief selector Muhammad Wasim said that the squad has been named keeping the focus on the T20 World Cup later this year.
