Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly said on Thursday that the organization will continue to monitor the situation in the island nation despite the ongoing political and economic crisis there ahead of the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka in August.

Sri Lanka recently hosted a multi-format series against Australia. The series was intensely competitive, with both teams playing excellent cricket.

Sri Lanka won the ODI series 3-2, Australia won the T20I series 2-1, and the Warne-Murli Trophy in the Test series was split after the two-match series ended in a 1-1 draw.

Ganguly also discussed the difficulties the COVID-19 pandemic presented while he was president of the BCCI.

“However, we were able to start playing cricket, and as you are aware, broadcast rights have been very successful. Although I never associate wealth with sports, having money is always a positive thing because it allows for the construction of infrastructure. Indian cricket is doing well right now. Someone else will enter and carry it forward as soon as we are done. The game will advance thanks to the players and officials “Ganguly stated.

“I am unable to remark at this time (about the possibility of India hosting the event). We will continue to watch (the situation in Sri Lanka). There is a match with Australia. The Sri Lankan team is performing well as well. Right now, I am unable to remark. Allow a month to pass “told ANI, BCCI president.
